The 10 main types
Higher the clouds, finer the weather!
(king) CUMULUS â fluffy clouds, drifting lazily across sunny days. However, can form into bigger ones and Cumulonimbus.
CIRROcumulus â like rippled sand. Omen of fair weather, usually follows a storm. Dissipate to clear blue sky.
ALTOcumulus â fair weather, thicker. Usually post storm
CUMULOnimbus â gathers like an anvil in the sky.
CIRRUS â high and wispy.
CIRROstratus â rain/snow coming
ALTOstratus â boring, wet weather, featureless, overcast.
NIMBOstratus â steady rain/snow. Depressing.
STRATOcumulus â Form a low, rolling mass. Light showers but usually dissipates afternoon.
STRATUS â hill fog. Drizzle. Thick overnight, usually followed by fine day.
